A soap opera is an ongoing, episodic work of fiction, usually broadcast on television or radio. Programs described as soap operas have existed as an entertainment long enough for audiences to recognize them simply by the term soap. The name soap opera stems from the original dramatic serials broadcast on radio that had soap manufacturers such as Procter and Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive and Pepsodent as the show's sponsors. ^[] These early radio serials were broadcast in weekday daytime slots when mostly housewives would be available to listen, thus the shows were aimed at and consumed by a predominantly female audience. ^[0]

The term soap opera has at times been generally applied to any romantic serial,^[0] but is also used to describe the more naturalistic, unglamorous evening, prime-time drama serials of the UK such as Coronation Street.^[2] What differentiates a soap from other television drama programs is the open-ended nature of the narrative, with stories spanning several episodes. The defining feature that makes a program a soap opera is that it, according to Albert Moran, is "that form of television that works with a continuous open narrative. Each episode ends with a promise that the storyline is to be continued in another episode".^[3] Soap opera stories run concurrently, intersect, and lead into further developments. An individual episode of a soap opera will generally switch between several different concurrent story threads that may at times interconnect and affect one another, or may run entirely independent of each other. Each episode may feature some of the show's current storylines but not always all of them. There is some rotation of both storylines and actors so any given storyline or actor will appear in some but usually not all of a week's worth of episodes. Soap operas rarely "wrap things up" storywise, and generally avoid bringing all the current storylines to a conclusion at the same time. When one storyline ends there are always several other story threads at differing stages of development. Soap opera episodes invariably end on some sort of cliffhanger.

Evening soap operas sometimes differ from this general format and are more likely to feature the entire cast in each episode, and to represent all current storylines in each episode. Additionally, evening soap operas and other serials that run for only part of the year tend to bring things to a dramatic end of season cliffhang

ESKUL YG MATCH HATI APA MATA?

Ada anak baru cowok,arif di sekolah geng De Rainbow, sudah ganteng, tajir, alim,pintar, kepribadian ok. hobinya ikut eskul karate dan sudah tingkat mahir. Akhirnya para cewek termasuk geng De Rainbow yang terpesona kepribadiannya ikutan eskul karate. Chacha yang ikut eskul karate senang, artinya eskulnya dia jadi rame.Akhirnya arif jadi asisten pelatih karate ,karena sekolahnya yang lama sudah menjad asiten pelatih
Kaya Tasya, Bebi dan Helen baru masuk lapangan olah raga sudah pada ngeri, karena ada . Memecahkan genteng, lari keliling lapangan 20x, split. Ahirnya mereka mau membatalkan tapi tertabrak si hand some nan baik hati (Arif) , mereka pada memaksakan diri ingin ikut. Ditambah lagi para cewek geng ster musuh mereka dan cewek lainnya.
Karena ada arif so sweet ini, akhirnya eskul karate jadi top di sekolah Yang tadinya hanya Cha-ca dan beberapa orang.Eskul karate selalu latihan pada hari minggu jam 12 siang, demi sang incaran geng De Raibow rela melakukan apa saja.
Minggu I latihan tekwondo.
Setelah ganti baju karate, rainbow melakukan pemanasan dengan berlari2 keliling lapangan 20x. Raibow pada rela berpanas2an ria dan keringatan keliling lapangan.Setelah mereka keliling lapangan, si artis akhirnya pingsan. Tapi langsung siuman ketika dibantu oleh Arif dan Cha-ca
Mereka lanngsung berbaris untuk diajarkan gerakan dasar, tapi belum mulai Helen sudah nyelutuk menurut buku yang aku baca untuk pemula seperti kita gerakan seperti…. tapi langsung disorakin..sok tahu. Arif handsome langsung mengambil alih dengan memberikan aba2 gerakan. Pulang2 geng rainbow langsung pada bengkak2 dan kotor.
Minggu II latihan karate masih tetap pemanasan , ditambah hapalan2 gerakan latihan kemarin dan juga tambahan gerakan karate yang lebih berat. Bebi mundur, demi kecantikan kulit untuk impian menjadi artis. Tapi tetap datang ke tempat latihan want to see Arif
MInggu III Helen mundur, Tasya tetap gigih bertahan dalam hati berbicara, “ eskul karate ini MATCH HATI APA MATA? Setelah intropeksi diri di rumah . Ternyata Tasya cuma penasaran akan segala kelebihan arif,pada hal hatinya cuma buat Indra), karena Tasya sukanya eskul memasak.
Para cowok temasuk Indra jg niru2 gayanya juga ikutan latihan tekwondo demi menarik simpati para pujaan hatinya. Akhirnya karena not comfortable dengan gaya si macho.Para cowok sadar bahwa yang paling baik be yourself dan memperbaiki kekurangan dengan menonjolkan kelebihan mereka. Seperti Indra yang mendengar dan memberikan solusi dan support geng raibow tentang si cowok macho.Meskipun sedih Tasya perhtiin cowok lain, tapi dia senang melihat Tasya bahagia.
Si Monkey. Makin memperhatikan Cha-ca takut si macho diambil si hansome, karena punya hobi yang sama.
Minggu IV ternyata sang cowok,Arif ganteng ada cewek cantik yang ternyata pacarnya. Akhirnya Minggu V, ketika di jemput geng De Raibow, Tasya tidak mau latihan. Kata Tasya, soalnya Arif sudah punya cewek tapi aku kagum dia setia sama pacarnya. Meskipun dia tidak punya pacar, hatiku cuma buat satu orang sambil melirik Indra. Tapi paling utama Karate bukan hobi aku…, Helen nyeletuk menurut buku yang aku baca ,pilih eskul yang sesuai dengan hati kita. Disamber sama Indra artinya ESKUL YG MATCH HATI BUKAN MATA. Artinya kata Cha-ca bukan karena melihat arif khan…Apalagi aku kata Bebi, cape cuci mata akhirnya jadi harus cuci kulit alias luluran ke salon gara-gara karate
